Our 550 Spyder clamshell (rear lid) gas support strut kit replaces the factory manual prop rod system with a self-supporting gas strut mechanism. Once installed, the clamshell is supported automatically in the open position, eliminating the need to reach inside the engine bay to locate, position, or remove the prop rod.
Operation is straightforward: unlock the rear clamshell and lift it to the open position, the gas struts provides lift assistance and holds the clamshell open. To close, apply downward pressure and lower the clamshell in a controlled manner. The factory latch must still be engaged after closing to fully secure and lock the clamshell.

Installation notes:
This is not a bolt-on kit. Installation requires accurate drilling and welding of mounting points. Professional installation is recommended, especially for installers without welding or fabrication experience.
