550 Spyder clam shell (rear lid ) gas prop rod kit eliminate the need to reach in, locate and set the manual proprod when opening or closing your clam shell. You simply unlock, lift the clam shell and it stays up, then you simply push it down to close it. You will still need to secure (latch) it as you normally do to ensure it remains locked and closed. This is not a locking prop rod but simply a hassle free way to open and close the clam shell.
You will need to drill a 5/16 hole into the chassis rail perpendicular to the rear shock tower and weld the the new ball pin to the chassis then drill a 5/16 hole into the inner rear structure behind the rear wheel to secure the other ball pin. Once both ball pins are installed you simply snap on the gas shock and your done. We have detailed installation instructions that we can send via email by request at info@fibersteel.com
